I think we got waves coming this weekend but I've got a farking camping trip lined up to Mammoth! It figures 2 weeks of flat and then surf comes. It sucks. Oh well. That Tugger nickname story is a bit fishy but we'll let you slide for now. LOL! I'm due for an Uppers run soon. Let me know if you're hitting it. That new board I got is sick but I don't think it could handle solid Trestles.
There was no drama. Little man was ready to surf the next day. That wipeout was the equivalent of me getting hit by 30 foot wave. The reason I say that is because I've been blasted by 25 footers but he's never been rolled. He's been slammed but not rolled.
That was a funny comment. My wife doesn't sweat too much. I push the boundaries pretty hard with him but I make sure it's not all about surfing. We jump off the board and swim, he walks back and forth on the board and jumps in the water, we find those little kept thingys and fire them off like rockets, we check out birds, fishes, dolphins - and then we'll take off on some 8 foot bombs at Swamis too!!! I'm working on getting pictures but it's hard to have a photographer around all the time and Swamis is so freaking packed and breaks so far out so half the time the wife can't find us in the line up. We go out to the main peak and I just go. I dont care. As long as were not too deep and it's not ledging to hard I'm going.
Yeah. Remember when I saw you and we checked out each other's boards? That's the board I'm riding on the small stuff. The bigger waves are in Indo but if I had it to do all over again I would go with a shorter board but bigger and wider. You can take off late and critical and get pocketed easier. I was doing that way before Kelly. In fact my buddy works directly with Al Merrick and I just sent him some pics of that board which I'm busting the airs on.
You should have seen my son charging Swamis during that swell. We caught some bombs but got sucked over the falls on a 6 footer and he had his biggest wipeout ever! I was shitting my pants but I had his leg as we were flying in mid air and then fully got rolled. I always wondered how he would do, at 2 years old, if we were to get rolled. He was a little bummed but I hurt his leg a little bit because I was holding on to him so tight. He's cool. We went out yesterday and caught some bombs at D Street.
I will and already have. It's a cool site. I want to get some pics of my boy in some serious surf. Hopefully this new swell will have enough west in it so I can get some shots of him in 2-3 foot over my head.
Let me know next time you come down to Encinitas and we'll go rip it up!
